The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
I looove swings:)

Oh, Emma! I love that poem! When my kids were little we used to swing in the glider and I would sing this poem to them. Over and over. It is one of my favorite poems. Thanks for visiting my blog. I need to update it soon. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Robert Louis Stevenson, I heart him! To bad he's been gone for over a hundred years! I think I was born in the wrong era {well, of course, God doesn't make mistakes & I do like medical advancements, but ya know}. I've been to Scotland, the country of his birth, & got to see some of his belongings & stuff at the Writer's Museum in Edinburgh.
